EASTER WEEK-END

THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING / MAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF

Realtors are the king-pin of Multi-Taskers! It is important to take time off, and make time for yourself.

A typical Realtor day (for me) starts with:

Administration - answering emails, filing, ordering and obtaining supplies - everything from ink-cartriges to presentation folders. Keeping up to date with receipts, accounts payable and other things realted to "my" business.

Ballon HouseProspecting: Follow-up with the clients who are already in "my top drawer" - checking interest rates, mortgage options and everything else that impacts "the market" and letting them know the latest. Usually email - but sometimes a quick phone call. I then move to the prospecting plan - are the newsletter and postcards ready? Is there a farm promo on the horizon? Is there a door prize needed for a local fund-raiser? Then there is the data-base up-date... (Maybe it is 8 am and I should grab a coffee?)

Previewing: Wednesday - Ladner Tour - Friday Tsawwassen tour. If I don't have a home to show to my colleagues, I am out looking at the new inventory. Multi-tasking - blackberry in hand - talking to Realtors / Clients / Brokers / Lawyers / Appraisers / Inspectors / Stagers /
(oh...did I miss maybe calling my husband to ask him what he'd like to do for dinner? or maybe checking in with one of my daughters to see how their day is going - what silly stuff my grandkids have been into?)

Listing: Market Evaluations - Market Updates - Marketing! New photos, new strategies, new advertising, new feature sheets, new clients to show the property to, Open Houses, Postcards, promo...problems to solve...
(no, I don't have time to "do-lunch" or "go-shopping", girlfriend...)

Buyers: What hot new listings have come out that my buyers have to see - right away? Making appointments, juggling schedules of the sellers and the other Realtor - getting my buyers in to see the properties that fit their wish list. Out-of-town buyers want a tour of the community amenities - Driving, thinking, driving sopme more - (oh, the gas gauge is getting close to empty - again..)

Sell: Negotiating the written offer - Chasing down all parties to the transaction - getting initials on changes, keeping cool heads between sellers and buyers - and often the so-called cooperating Realtor...Then comes the subjects to be removed - attending to every whim and fancy, as well as the real stuff to do with the deal... Some petty stuff - some very life-changing - all of which need addressed.
(It's almost 9pm - forgot about having dinner - again.  Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't have a chance to return your call...)

All without guarantee of seeing a paycheck! And, when we do get the job done, and the sold sign goes up - dealing with people who think we get paid too much and want a commission reduction!

Tomorrow I get to do this all over again! 24/7... That's what a good Realtor does for YOU...
Good thing I love my job!
Yes, It's easy to see why Realtors face a high burnout - especially in the tough competitive times that this economy is in. Expectations run high - and patience runs thin.

So - if I haven't had my pedicure yet (YIKES - it is April 21st) and I haven't had a chance to get my legs shaved and my Easternew spring hair do yet... be nice to me! I'm working very hard to help my clients reach their dreams and goals of a new place to live. I am placing their demands on the table ahead of my own. For almost 23 years as a Realtor - that's what I do best.

But - this weekend, I am OFF! I graciously decline any business from Friday until Monday - It is Easter. As a Christian, that is more meaningful than Christmas. Some things I will not compromise on, and that is one.

Now...back to work!
